MBI Sport Explains Absence From Rivers United vs Rangers Coverage, Cites Denied Access

Murphy Ben International (MBI Sport) has explained why its production crew was unable to cover the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fixture between Rivers United and Rangers International FC, citing the failure to secure the necessary access to carry out its planned production.

Sports247 reports that, in an official public statement, the sports media organisation said its crew was fully prepared to cover the scheduled encounter but could not proceed after access was not granted under circumstances involving the club.

The development meant that MBI Sport was unable to deliver the planned match coverage to football fans and viewers who had anticipated following the contest through its platform.

The organisation expressed regret over the situation, particularly the disappointment it may have caused supporters and viewers who were looking forward to its coverage.

“Despite our readiness and commitment to bringing the excellence of Nigerian football to fans across the country and beyond, the necessary access was not granted, making it impossible for our team to proceed with the planned production,” the statement read.

MBI Sport further reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the NPFL and increasing the visibility of Nigerian football through quality media production.

The organisation noted that expanding access to domestic football and ensuring that supporters can follow their respective teams remain central to its objectives.

It also stressed the importance of cooperation among football stakeholders, describing media access and collaboration as essential elements in the growth, development and commercial appeal of the Nigerian game.

The statement added that MBI Sport would continue engaging relevant stakeholders to address the challenges and prevent similar situations from depriving football fans of coverage.

Although the organisation did not provide further details about the circumstances surrounding the access issue, its statement highlights the importance of constructive relationships between clubs, league organisers and media organisations.

As the NPFL continues to seek greater visibility and wider audience engagement, improved media access remains an important consideration in strengthening the league’s coverage and commercial reach.
