In a post-match statement, Osho remarked, “As you can see, early in the game, we had the opportunity. What has been happening in the team is that we fail to take those opportunities, and we allow Kwara United to come into the game.”

Osho highlighted the team’s struggle with clinical finishing, citing missed chances and a failed penalty kick as contributing factors to the deadlock.

He emphasized the need for patience on the field and regretted the team’s inability to maintain composure, stating, “But, footballers, for what they are, the patience was not there, and we played into the hands of the Kwara United team.”

Addressing broader concerns about Akwa United’s performance in away matches, Osho acknowledged the evolving landscape of the Nigerian league, where teams can secure points on the road.

However, he admitted that fundamental problems persist, particularly in the team’s offensive prowess. Osho stated, “We are not clinical in front of goal,” pointing out a deficiency that the team identified before the season commenced.

Despite efforts to strengthen the squad with new signings, Osho lamented the challenges faced in securing top-quality players. He revealed, “Most of the players we had in mind could have come in and enhanced the quality of our attack. But we were not able to secure them.”

The coach acknowledged the management’s efforts but expressed disappointment in the circumstances that prevented key acquisitions.

Looking forward, Osho remained optimistic, urging the team to avoid fixating on specific weaknesses and reinforcing the belief that they are potential champions.

He also shed light on the challenges faced in securing desired players due to competitive offers from other clubs, emphasizing the financial constraints faced by Akwa United in the player recruitment process.

As Akwa United continues to navigate the NPFL season, Coach Fatai Osho remains committed to addressing the team’s offensive shortcomings and working towards a turnaround in their performance.
