In an exclusive interview with Sports247, Coach Adedeji, also known as Coach Are, shared his perspective on the unexpected success, stating, “Actually, we just came here to have fun. But unfortunately, the boys mean business. They do not want to joke about anything. So, we came here, saw, and conquered.”

Having been the U16 tournament winners in the previous year, Right to Smile entered this year’s competition as defending champions and once again emerged triumphant in both the U13 and U15 categories.

Coach Adedeji acknowledged the competitive nature of the tournament, noting, “Every year, we have other teams that are competing to win as well. They are all competing on the bigger stage. I saw some errors and lapses in today’s match, and I’ll be going back to the drawing board to work on them.”

Despite the initial intention to focus on enjoyment, Coach Adedeji emphasized the determination of his players and the need for encouragement.

Looking ahead, he revealed, “Coming here, we just told the kids to come and have fun and if it is in our favour, so be it.

I have to encourage my players because so many teams are here to fight for the trophy as well. So if it was not in our favour, I have to encourage my players.”

With an upcoming tournament scheduled for December 18, where they emerged as runners-up in the previous edition, Coach Adedeji expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure the championship in this year’s competition, underscoring their commitment to continued success.
