Before a ball is kicked in the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season, one club is already making a loud statement.
After ending an 18-year wait to return to Nigeria’s top flight, Ranchers Bees are moving with purpose, ambition and plenty of intent.
The Kaduna-based club, co-owned by Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq and Bello El-Rufai, appears determined to ensure its comeback season is remembered for more than just participation.
With a record ₦2 billion prize package on offer in the NPFL, the race for supremacy is already gathering momentum, and Ranchers Bees are making sure they are not left behind.
The latest piece of the puzzle is the expected appointment of experienced coach Usman Abdallah.
The former Enyimba and Remo Stars tactician is set to take charge of the club on a two-year deal after a proposed move to the Middle East failed to materialise.
For many observers, the move signals the seriousness of a club that is rapidly transforming from a newly promoted side into one of the most ambitious projects in Nigerian football.
But the coaching appointment is only part of a bigger story.
Since securing promotion, Ranchers Bees have been among the busiest clubs in the transfer market. The club has strengthened key areas of the squad with the acquisition of experienced midfielder Kabiru Mohammed following his departure from Kwara United.
Marvelous Eronmose has arrived from Kada Warriors, while Yusuf Musa brings valuable experience gained during a spell in Croatian football.
The recruitment drive is not slowing down either, with reports indicating that a deal for Godwin Daniel is nearing completion.
At the same time, dependable defender Sulaiman Umar Gamagira has committed his future to the club by signing a fresh two-year contract.
Off the pitch, changes have also been swift. Former player Kabiru Muazu, fondly known as “2Pac”, has been handed the responsibility of General Manager as part of a broader restructuring aimed at preparing the club for the demands of top-flight football.
The transformation is already visible. Training resumed at Rimi College, Kaduna, in mid-June, while club officials continue to put structures in place ahead of the new campaign.
For a club that once dominated conversations in Nigerian football before years away from the spotlight, the return journey is beginning to feel special.
The message coming out of Kaduna is simple: Ranchers Bees are not back merely to make up the numbers.
With influential owners, an experienced coach, aggressive recruitment and a growing belief within the club, the Bees are buzzing again—and they have their sights firmly set on making an impact in the NPFL’s new era.
