NPFL kick off date: LMC/ Club Owners May spit fire

Sequel to the recently released fixtures and last minute arrangements to kick start the 2018/2019 NPFL season on Sunday 13th January, 2019 across the league centres in Nigeria, the LMC and the NPFL club owners are ready to spit fire this Friday or else they shift ground.

A notice for the Emergency meeting cum AGM released Wednesday evening and signed by the Executive secretary of the Club Owners Association Mr Alloy Chukwuemeka said the meeting holds on Friday 11th January 2019 at Reno hotel in Abuja by 10pm.

As contained in the notice of the meeting, all the four newly promoted clubs are also expected to be at the meeting which would confirm the January 13th kick off date amongst others.

There are a lot of plot and conspiracy theories about newly promoted teams to go back to where they belong and other northernen clubs to drop and the reactions go thus:

“It seems to me that there is a grand plot to relegate the newly promoted NNL teams from the NPFL this season. Why?” Wale

“they were told today that they will be starting their NPFL campaign by next Wednesday. How on earth can a team just finished a tournament of 3/4 matches within a spate of 5 days and that same team is expected to start a league of 22 matches SIX DAYS after? The players have to be robots. Not minding the time required to strengthen the team or even registering the players for the NPFL.

Also, “I have never seen a league whereby only a portion of participating teams are balloted in groups and some other teams are balloted separately. 20 NPFL were balloted at Asaba and 4 NNL teams balloted at ABA.

For instance, it is possible for ALL NNL teams to be in the same group if all 24 teams are balloted together. Thereby increasing their chances of staying afloat and getting the NPFL teams in more danger of relegation”– Sunday

These are circumstantial issues and other inconvenient pairings that would top the agenda on Friday in Abuja

Gombe utd, Kada FC, Insurance FC of Benin and Remo stars FC are the newly promoted clubs to join the the top flight.
