NPFL: If We Don’t Get Our Production Right, We Can Never Be In A Good Position To Get Our Games On Tv- Shehu Dikko Admits

Chairman of the League Management Company Shehu Dikko has admitted that production must be right, for NPFL games to be shown on TV.

The LMC Chairman stated that Production must be right, as it is the heart of any sports revenue most especially leagues and that is why the LMC are working towards resolving the fundamental problem that hinders the growth of NPFL TV coverage.

In an interview with Sunday Agunbiade on Sportsworld platform and monitored by Sports247, Dikko admitted the need for the right production, so as to ensure that most NPFL games are shown live on TV throughout the whole campaign. He also urged for the imitation of European League matches whose games are not been covered by their TV networks but by some Specialist Production Companies, who in turn sell these contents to TV networks across various platforms.

“On the TV issue, it’s very clear that it is the heart of any sports revenue especially leagues and that is why we are working to resolve the fundamental problem that hinders the growth of our TV coverage, which is PRODUCTION”.

“Even at the height of our TV coverage it’s only about 1 or 2 matches that are covered by TV every week and so we were losing 9 to 8 matches not covered every week with some teams not even covered in the whole season”.

“This can’t be the ideal situation anyway, so what we are doing is to go back to the foundation to see that we work to resolve this issues and acquire the production capacity to cover, if not all the games but as much as we can and then monetize the content”.

“If you go to Europe it’s not the Tv networks that cover and produce the EPL or Laliga or Bundesliga matches but specialist production companies and the contents now sold to the networks across platforms”.

“If we don’t do this model we can never be in a position to correctly get our games on TV and generate the correct revenues as seen globally”.

“We have done a lot of work and effort in this regard but been distracted which slows down the process or even chases away the partners. But we won’t relent and we are now working with the Next to get this going”, he concluded.
