NPFL has dropped drastically – Victor Agali

Former Nigerian forward, Victor Agali has revealed that the level of the Nigerian Professional Football League has dropped drastically.

Agali who has coached two Nigerian National League clubs, Rising Stars FC and Delta Force between 2017 and 2018 in an online interview, disclosed that the NPFL has more work to do.

“The NPFL is not there yet to produce the kind players we want for the national team. The league players are talented and quality but the level of the league has dropped drastically over the last years. The league needs to do more, the better the league, the better the players it produce.”

“We can’t compare the time of Westerhof with now, we did not have lots of players outside the country then, now we have more players out there and for a national team coach, it is all about the results and he has to go for the best”. Agali went on to say.

Speaking on Amapakabo’s comment that said the league cannot produce national team players, Agali said Amapakabo is a vast coach with lots of experience in the NPFL and with the national team.

“He has won the league, coached different clubs and also has worked with foreign players in the national team, and for him to make the statement, I think he’s right. Though the statement is harsh but he is correct. I think he should be taken serious because he has been with both sides and knows what is missing.”

Victor Agali played for local side Nitel FC, Lagos in 1996 before moving to Europe.
