NPFL: Abubakar Bala apologises as Kwara United threaten to sanction him

After the resignation of Kwara United coach Abubakar Bala on Monday following a goalless draw with defending champions Lobi Stars, the management of the Ilorin-based club has ordered the coach to return to his position or face disciplinary action, Sport247 reports.

Chairman of the club, Prince Thompson Oladimeji said he was surprised with the decision of the coach to leave his post despite all the support he received from the management of the club under his leadership and the fans.

He disclosed that the former Niger Tornadoes coach has been paid all his entitlement in advance, admitting that only the players are owed two months salary due to delay in allocation.

The club chairman also warned Bala to resume his position with immediate effect or face legal consequences because the Club lawyer has been notified to take appropriate action.

He also confirmed that the club’s official car is still in possession of the Niger State born manager and he still has an existing contract with the team and pleaded to the government, stakeholders and supporters of the club to support the team avoid relegation as they face Rivers United at home on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Bala has apologised to the club about how he left, but refused to be drawn into a war of words with the president.

“I have seen the press release by my respected president and I can not enter into argument with him on public platform but I waited for His call or that of the Secretary until now.

“I apologise to all stake holders on the way I left but wallahi it was not my wish,” he concludes.

Kwara United are tenth on the log with 20 points acquired from 18 matches.
