Nothing Will Change’ Omoruyi Predicts Same Outcome — Doubts NFF Reforms Will Remove Old Guard

Former Nigeria international Loveday Omoruyi has expressed skepticism over the impact of ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Football Federation, insisting that he does not expect any real change in leadership.

Speaking ahead of the federation’s upcoming elections, Omoruyi suggested that despite widespread calls for reform, the same individuals are likely to remain in power.

“I don’t expect anything to change,” he said.

According to him, the structure of Nigerian football administration still favors established political figures, making it difficult for new voices to emerge.

“The politicians will still be there,” he implied.

Omoruyi noted that many Nigerians have grown frustrated with what they see as a lack of progress under the current leadership, particularly in areas such as team performance, league development, and overall governance.

“People are tired,” he added.

However, despite this dissatisfaction, he believes the system is structured in a way that allows incumbents to maintain control.

“They will still contest and win,” he stressed.

For the former international, this raises concerns about the effectiveness of the reforms being introduced, as they may not lead to the meaningful change many stakeholders are hoping for.

“It may not change anything,” he noted.

His comments reflect a broader debate within Nigerian football about governance, transparency, and accountability.

As the election approaches, expectations for reform remain high, but so does skepticism.

For Omoruyi, the message is clear.

Change is being talked about.

But whether it will actually happen is another question entirely.

Because in football administration, reform is only meaningful when it leads to real results.
