With the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season less than two months away, the league body has thrown down the gauntlet to clubs, making it clear that only those who meet strict registration conditions will be cleared to compete.
The NNL Secretariat confirmed that the registration portal will officially open on October 6 and shut down on October 24, giving clubs a narrow two-week window to comply. The season itself is slated to kick off on November 8, 2025.

According to NNL Chief Operating Officer, Danlami Alanana, the deadline will be enforced without exception as the league seeks to maintain a stable calendar.
“We are doing everything possible to enable us tenaciously to stick to our planned programme of activities and would not want to be distracted. So we advise clubs to stick with us,” Alanana warned.
What Clubs Must Do
To secure their participation, clubs must provide:
Proof of adherence to registration modalities
Transfer Matching System (TMS) certificates for all signed and transferred players
Medical certificates for players and technical officials
Insurance certificates covering all registered personnel
Failure to meet any of these conditions could see clubs locked out of the new campaign.
The NNL further urged teams to work closely with the Secretariat to avoid last-minute administrative bottlenecks, insisting that the responsibility lies with clubs to ensure compliance.
This firm stance signals the league’s determination to curb delays and improve professionalism, a move analysts say could mark a turning point for Nigeria’s second-tier league.
With the clock ticking, the spotlight now shifts to clubs scrambling to meet the October 24 deadline or risk missing out on the new season altogether.
