NNL: How Go Round FC Won The Battle Of Benin

Go Round FC won 2-0 in Benin against Dynamite FC in the Nigeria National League, but the battle on the pitch was not as easy as the scoreline.

Two goals, one in each half by Moses Omodumueke and Pere Andersen ensured Go Round FC won two-nil but it was not without some on-pitch drama.

Two penalties were awarded to the home side, Dynamites FC, one just after Moses Omodumueke scored and the other at the start of the second half but both were missed to keep the away side in the game.

At the end of 90 minutes, the referee signaled for five added minutes and it was in that time that Pere Andersen’s header went in for the second goal of the game.

Go Round FC gaffer, said after the game that he had to change his matchday plans when the boys went for their pre-match warm-up.

“We wanted to play two strikers upfront, but when we went to the pitch we saw it was wide so we had to change the tactics and open up the game with width,” Elechi said.

“It paid off for us. We had Douye Golden was on the left and Hadi Mohammed playing from the right, while Moses Omodumueke played from the middle.

“We played well by looking at the pitch and what we had before attacked our opponents. It paid off for us,” Elechi said.

Next for Go Round FC is the Rivers State FA Cup final against Rivers United on Friday.
