In preparation for the fast-approaching 2025/2026 football season, the Nigeria National League (NNL) has commenced a comprehensive inspection of stadium facilities across the country to ensure all venues meet professional standards before kickoff.
The league’s management has officially notified all 36 participating clubs to submit their preferred home venues by October 13, 2025, ahead of the scheduled November 8 season kickoff. Each club has also been placed on alert for the visit of the NNL’s inspection team, which will assess the suitability of the proposed facilities.

In addition, the NNL has directed clubs to finalize their registration formalities and club licensing procedures by October 24, 2025, stressing that only duly licensed clubs will be cleared to field players in the new campaign.
Chief Operating Officer of the NNL, Mr. Danlami Alanana, reiterated the league’s commitment to maintaining high standards, insisting that no substandard facility will be approved for hosting matches.
“We strongly kick against poor pitches that lower the quality of play and pose risks to players,” Alanana stated. “As a professional league, we expect clubs to provide acceptable playing surfaces that promote good football and protect player welfare.”
He emphasized that the league’s success depends heavily on the quality of venues, urging clubs to invest in proper maintenance and upgrades.
The ongoing inspections mark a proactive step by the NNL to professionalize its operations and ensure the 2025/2026 season runs seamlessly, free from the logistical and safety concerns that have plagued previous campaigns.
