An assurance has come that Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Ogui Road, Enugu, will be ready in three months, ahead of this year’s National Sports Festival, scheduled to hold in The Coal City from November 27th to December 11th.
Sports247 reports that this assurance was provided by the site manager for ongoing construction and renovation at the arena, Yasser Alshamah, who gave details of the remaining parts of the project and why certain portions have to be done in specific dimensions.
Although the timeline provided by the project manager means the arena would be declared ready only a few months before the opening ceremony, he assured that everything will be done to perfection.
While affirming that the workers are on course to meet their deadline before the 23rd National Sports Festival, Alshamah placed special emphasis on the roof and front patio, both of which he said everyone at the construction firm – SANA Group Limited – is working hard to complete on schedule.
He stated further that the roof and every other part of ‘The Cathedral’ will be ready for the opening ceremony of Coal City Games 2026 and pointed out that the circular structure being installed at the entrance was necessary to achieve a specific architectural attraction for the facility.
“Our scope is to roof some sections of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium. We have three months to complete the roofing. We have no choice. We have a schedule. By the grace of God, and with the support of everyone, we will complete the aluminium sheet roofing on time,” Alshamah submitted.
