NLO Partners POCACOV in war against cultists

Ahead of the commencement of the Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) season, the league body has revealed its intention to conduct sensitization and re-orientation of players for a hitch free season through police campaign Against cultism and other vices (POCACOV)

This was made known by the chairman of the league board Mohammed Alkali recently in Abuja. According to him, NLO is a grass root league body that deals with the youth and there is need for sensitization and re orientation and to endure that don’t go astray but to remain law abiding and devoid of violence.

“We are here to set the pace and to ensure the youth go the right way as well as understanding the role of their security agencies and the need to partner them for a safe and secured nation and that is why we are collaborating with Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) set up by the Nigeria Police Force.” Alkali said

“We are leveraging on the fact that the National Xoordinator of POCACOV , CSP Ebere Amaraizu is a noble football stakeholder and the Zonal Director in charge South East of the NLO. We want our players to remain law abiding at all time,” he said.

Responding, the National Coordinator POCACOV CSP Ebere Amaraizu maintained that POCACOV is community driven and oriented in line with the tenets of community oriented policing and to work with different stakeholders to achieve the process of consultation, mobilization and engagement being the cardinal ingredients of community policing.

“Through the community policing tenets ,we remain constantly in touch with our community and stakeholders with a view to finding out their worries and concern with a view to addressing them and that is why community oriented policing is problem solving.” Amaraizu said.

“We must constantly engage with the young ones so that they don’t go astray. POCACOV is to save the youth from the claws of cultism,associated violence and other vices through advocacy programme ,awareness creation and sensitizations as well as proper engagement of youth to divert their mind from negativism to positivism,” he said.
