Nkwocha Labels Oshoala, Ordega, Others All Winners

Former Super Falcons striker, Perpetua Nkwocha Nwufoh turned up in Dakar, Senegal to witness live the 2018 CAF Awards, after which she labelled all the nominees as winners.

Sports247.ng gathered that Nkwocha was among the special invitees by Confederation of African Football (CAF), which used the occasion as a rare gathering of legends and celebration of excellence.

It was not limited to only the male stars, as several females, including Nkwocha, who celebrated her 42nd birthday last week, was added to the roll call, but she opted instead to celebrate this year’s main actors.

Heading into the night, Falcons’ current ace, Asisat Oshoala was on the podium as three-time winner of the prize for African Women Footballer of the Year, which would pull her level with Nkwocha.

Oshoala was in the race alongside fellow-Nigerian, Francisca Orega and South Africa’s Chrestinah Kgatlana, but only one was bound to carry the night in the Senegalese capital.

Rather than take sides with the Nigerians, or feel slighted that Oshoala was bound to equal her quadruple feat, Nkwocha took to social media to wish them all well and eventually soothed those who missed out.

Nkwocha, who is the only female player to win the award four times in a row, just as Yaya Toure did with the male cadre, stated: “African Legends #AiteoCAFaward #Goodlucktothenominees #youallarewinners.”
