Nigeria’s Minister of Sports Takes Steps to Revolutionize Scouting System for Athletes

The proposal aimed at regulating the scouting system within Nigeria’s sports landscape was submitted by a delegation led by the National President of Prestige Football Academy, Uchendu Stephen Nwabara, during a meeting with the Minister in Abuja on Tuesday.

The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, expressed his commitment to meticulously reviewing the proposal.

The critical role of scouting in nurturing and harnessing the nation’s sports potential was acknowledged by Senator Enoh, who also stated that Nigeria’s large talent pool makes it a popular destination for scouts from all over the world.

The Minister emphasized the Ministry’s concern about certain general practices in the sports ecosystem and its efforts to uphold ethical standards and provide equal opportunities for young talents to excel in sports.

In regards to the subject of the scouting process for Nigerian athletes, Senator Enoh said, “Most people in the sector are concerned.”

He also noted that while sports is a global matter, Nigeria’s size, population, and talent make it a “laboratory” for various actors to come and go.

The Minister’s administration is deeply committed to creating a conducive environment for the growth and development of sports in Nigeria.
