Nigeria’s Adaobi Tabugbo and Onyah Favour Qualify for NCAA Championships with Record Performances

Nigerian athletes Adaobi Tabugbo and Onyah Favour delivered standout performances over the weekend to secure their spots at the NCAA Championships, further solidifying their rising profiles in collegiate athletics.

Tabugbo, a consistent force in the women’s 100m hurdles this season, clocked another sub-13 seconds run in the quarterfinals to seal her qualification.

The performance not only earned her a place at the national championships but also underscored her consistency at the elite level.

Meanwhile, Onyah Favour produced one of the weekend’s most inspiring stories. After missing out on Regionals last season, Favour came back with a vengeance — and results to match.

She shattered her school record in the first round of the women’s 400m, stopping the clock at 51.93s. Remarkably, she nearly reset it in the quarterfinals with a blistering 51.94s to punch her NCAA ticket.

The duo’s qualification adds to Nigeria’s growing reputation for producing world-class collegiate talent, and they will be among the names to watch when the NCAA Championships get underway.
