Nigerian Forward Nominated For UEFA Fans’ Team Of The Year

Super Falcons forward and captain, Asisat Oshoala has been Nominated for the 2020 UEFA Fans’ Women’s Team Of the Year.

Oshoala who currently plays for FC Barcelona Femeni is among the 50-women shortlisted by UEFA.

The 26-years-old was instrumental for Barcelona Ladies the last term as they won the Spanish women’s top division and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

She scored 19 goals from 20 league outings last season.

“The nominees are proposed by the UEFA editorial team before being validated by the technical observer panel on the basis of their performances in UEFA competitions and domestic competitions within UEFA member associations from January to December 2020,” reads a statement on the UEFA website.

“The UEFA.com Team of the Year is chosen to reflect the votes of the fans in parallel with player’s achievements over the course of the calendar year, moderated by the UEFA Technical Observer panel.”

Oshoala is the only African listed and she is in the running for one of the attacking positions in the team of the year.
