‘Nigerian Football Is Finally Getting It Right’ — Buruj FC Boss Hails NFF’s New Direction

Chief Executive Officer of Buruj Football Club and Sports Academy, Salaudeen Waheed Buruj, has praised what he described as the steady transformation of Nigerian football, commending the Nigeria Football Federation for strengthening the pathway from the country’s youth teams to the Super Eagles.

Dr. Buruj said the current structure within the national teams is beginning to produce the kind of continuity Nigerian football has lacked for years.

“It gives me great joy to see our coaches working together from the youth teams to the Super Eagles,” he said.

The football administrator applauded the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation under President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, while also commending Bukola Olopade and Shehu Dikko for what he described as a deliberate focus on scouting, player development and smooth progression through the national team ranks.

According to him, one of the biggest improvements has been the collaboration among coaches across the different age-grade teams.

Dr. Buruj highlighted the technical structure involving Coach Simon Cletus with the U-15 team, Coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere with the U-17s and the Super Eagles technical crew led by Eric Chelle.

He also welcomed the federation’s decision to entrust more responsibilities to young Nigerian coaches.

“Our new generation coaches are technically sound. Football has changed, it is now science-driven, and both coaches and players must continue to evolve,” he said.

Dr. Buruj urged Nigerians to support the country’s football development rather than constantly focus on its shortcomings.

“We should stop condemning ourselves and our country. When something is wrong, we should ask for improvement instead of tearing everything down,” he added.

The Buruj FC boss expressed confidence that the current direction of Nigerian football will produce long-term benefits, insisting the country is entering a new era built on unity, player development and continuity across all levels of the national teams.
