Nigerian sprinter Madonna Favour delivered an impressive performance to secure a place in the men’s 200m final at the ongoing Southland Outdoor Championship, clocking a time of 21.21 seconds to finish second in Heat 1.
The race, which featured a competitive field, saw Favour demonstrate solid speed and composure to earn an automatic qualification spot in the final.
Madonna Favour time stands out as one of the fastest among all heats, positioning him as a strong medal contender in the final showdown.
Meanwhile, fellow Nigerian athlete Daniel Atinaya also put up a commendable display, finishing third in Heat 7 with a time of 21.71 seconds.
Atinaya crossed the line behind his teammate, Jarden Bardales, who took the heat.
Although Atinaya’s time wasn’t enough to secure automatic qualification, it reflected the growing depth and presence of Nigerian talent on the U.S. collegiate track circuit.
The final of the men’s 200m promises to be an exciting affair, with Favour flying the Nigerian flag high. All eyes will be on the sprinter as he aims to leave his mark on the championship stage.
