Nigerian-born boxer Richard Riakporhe has thrown his British heavyweight title wide open by disclosing that he is ready to step into the ring at short notice against any available opponent, Sports247 reports.
To prove he is ready at short notice, Riakporhe has offered a highly promising rival, Johnny Fisher, the chance to fight him for the belt, but added that his target must first overcome Michael Pirotton this weekend in London.
Riakporhe’s open invitation now depends on whether ‘The Romford Bull’ can pull off a much-desired win when he and Pirotton headline a night of fights at London’s Copper Box Arena on Saturday.
This comes after Riakporhe, a world title challenger at cruiserweight, moved up to heavyweight last year and made an immediate impact, following which he dominated Jeamie TKV in just five rounds to win the prestigious British title.
The Londoner, who considers himself destined for the top of the heavyweight division, admitted that he wants to push on to an eventual world title shot, but he will now accept a defence of his British belt against Fisher.
“I’m actually a fan of Johnny Fisher as well and the Bosh family. I’m going to be watching and cheering him on at the weekend. It would be good. I like Fisher. I remember after my match I actually offered them the opportunity to fight if they wanted.
“Why not give them the opportunity? Very respectful, likeable, and he’s a big puncher himself as well and a strong guy, like an ox. So it would be good for the fans to see. I’m seen as a dangerous guy, top 10 in the world, who knows?” Riakporhe told Sky Sports.
Born on January 5th,1990 to Nigerian parents, Richard Riakporhe grew up on the Aylesbury Estate in Walworth, London and he had a late start to boxing; first stepping into a gym, the Lynn ABC, at the age of 19.
Alongside boxing as an amateur he continued in pursuit of further education, studying at college and eventually moving on to Kingston University in south west London, earning a degree in marketing communications and advertising in 2015.
His professional debut was on August 6th, 2016, with a four-round points decision (PTS) victory over Jason Jones at the York Hall in London, while his second win was in 2016 – a technical knockout (TKO) over Aaron Lacy in October.
He is a two-weight British champion having held the heavyweight title since April 2026, before which he previously held the cruiserweight title from 2019 to 2020 and got three consecutive TKO victories in 2017.
