Fast-rising Nigerian-born heavyweight boxer, Moses Itauma has declared that he has a burning ambition to tango current world champion, Oleksandr Usyk of Ukraine in an ‘unplanned’ title fight.
Sports247 reports that, Itauma, who won several awards last year and was rated among the biggest revelations of 2025, believes he has what it takes to stop Usyk in his tracks during a mega bout.

Though he is just 21 years old, Itauma is already ranked number one contender by both World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Council (WBC), but he is not billed to fight Usyk any time soon.
Nonetheless, Itauma is talking tough and believes he could call Usyk out for an unplanned clash, but admitted the champ might not accept his challenge, considering that he already has his 2026 schedule lined out.
Itauma told Sky Sports, “I’d love to have the shot. There’s no need to fight me, why would Usyk fight me? Obviously, he’s got other people on the agenda. Not only that he’s got a whole list of people in front of me.
“As in like Fabio Wardley, you’ve got (Agit) Kabayel. These guys I guess deserve the opportunity to fight for a world title. Obviously if the opportunity was presented to myself then I’d love to take it of course.”
