Another ‘cold war’ has erupted between England’s North London rivals, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, with Norway’s Nigerian-born winger, Antonio Eromonsele Nusa at the centre of the latest rift between the two top clubs, as they both want to sign him this summer.
Sports247 gathered that the fresh wave of misgivings between officials of The Gunners and those at Spurs have erupted on account of both English Premier League clubs angling for the signature of Nusa, who was a huge revelation at this year’s FIFA World Cup.
Both North London clubs, whose supporters are among the bitterest foes in football history, are eager to sign the 21-year-old Nigerian-born sensation from RB Leipzig of Germany, where he had a breakout season with five goals and four assists in 35 games.
His form earned Nusa a place in Norway’s squad for the World Cup, where he scored their opener in a 2-1 round of 32 victory against Cote d’Ivoire, which caught the eye of many scouts and has now set the stage for a return to bitterness betwen Arsenal and Tottenham in the hunnt for the same player.
UK’s Sun Sport adds, “North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are both monitoring the youngster’s situation. However? RB Leipzig have no intention of selling Nusa for anything less that £51m, with the likes of Roma and AC Milan also previously linked.”
Sports247 gathered further that Nusa, who was born in Norway April 17th, 2005 to a Norwegian mother and Nigerian father, started his career in his country of birth at Langhus, then moved to Stabæk’s youth section at the age of 13 and signed his first professional contract with Stabæk in May 2020.
He was called up by Norway’s youth team for the elite qualifying round of the 2023 UEFA European U-19 Championship, and received his first call-up to Norway’s senior national team in August 2023, for a friendly match against Jordan and a UEFA Euro 2024 qualifier against Georgia.
