Nigerian quarter-miler Emmanuel Ojeli has expressed excitement after setting a new personal best despite narrowly missing out on a stronger finish in his first individual 400m final at the African Senior Athletics Championships in Accra.
The Nigerian athlete broke into the sub-46-second range for the first time in his career, marking a major milestone in his development.
“It means a lot to me,” Ojeli said.
According to the sprinter, years of consistent hard work alongside his coach finally produced the breakthrough performance he had been chasing.
“All the hard work finally paid off,” he implied.
Ojeli admitted that competing in his first major individual final provided valuable experience that will help him moving forward.
“It was a huge learning experience,” he noted.
The Nigerian athlete also revealed that the achievement has boosted his confidence significantly ahead of future competitions.
“This gives me a lot of confidence,” he added.
Ojeli is now shifting his attention toward upcoming events, including the Commonwealth Games and races scheduled across Europe later in the season.
“I’m looking forward to what comes next,” he stressed.
The performance further highlighted Nigeria’s growing strength in the 400m category as younger athletes continue emerging strongly.
“He’s showing real progress,” many athletics observers noted after the race.
For Ojeli, the message is clear.
Trust the process.
Keep working consistently.
And believe in gradual improvement.
Because breakthrough moments are usually built on years of discipline and persistence.
