Nigeria Will Build On Youth Olympics’ Gains – Coach

Team Nigeria head coach to the recent Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Peace Epia has promised that the country will build on the gains they achieved at the Games.

Following the arrival of contingent back home at the weekend, Epia said it was a big achievement for Nigeria finishing 49th in the medals table.

Team Nigeria got their placement courtesy of one gold and three silver medals, which Epia told sports247.ng is something for the technical crew and other officials to work.

Epia, though, acknowledged that they will need an adequate programme, better equipment and adequate funding towards sustaining the tempo and improving on it as well into the coming years.

The coach added: “We want to work on the athletes for better future results, which will only come through adequate conditioning, committed work and endurance.

“For this process to be effectively carried out, we will need machines that will enhance their performance.

“We will also need financial support and funding from all sectors of the society, especially the corporate sector.

“All these combined will help us build these athletes further to that level whereby they will be able to compete favorably with other elite athletes in the future. “
