Nigeria Versus Seychelles For Teslim Balogun Stadium?

Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode’s senior special assistant on sports, Anthony Adeyinka Adeboye has disclosed that efforts have reached advanced stage to ensure the Super Eagles play their last match of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, sports247.ng reports.

 

 

Although the Eagles have already qualified for the competition in Cameroon, they will play Seychelles in a formality match on March 22, 2019, ahead of which Adeboye says Lagos State government has intensified efforts to re-grass TBS and make it conducive for the game.

Sporrs247.ng reports further that Adeboye says Lagos State is fully and truly determined to ensure the Eagles return to their ‘rightful home;, as a new grass pitch will soon be ready before the game in March 2019.

Adeboye, who doubles as chairman of Smart FC of Lagos, added that he is optimistic of luring the Eagles back to The Centre of Excellence, which he described as their tradition slaughter house of visiting teams.

He stressed: “Lagos State government is not relenting in it’s effort to restore our sporting facilities back to it’s rightful place.

“More importantly, the state government has once again reiterated it’s on going efforts to lure Super Eagles back to Lagos, which used to be it rightful home in the past.

“Work is going on in all the stadia in the state. While Onikan will be completed by January with a modern day astro turf, a full grass Teslim Balogun stadium will be ready by next March.

“Lagos is the home of Eagles and the state government want the team back in Lagos come next year.”
