Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Ejidike bemoans calamities in sports …Tasks President Buhari on COVID-19

Worried by the spate of calamities occurring in the sports sector particularly as it affects players and athletes , the Nigeria Pillar of Sports , Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, J.P has called for sober reflection and precautionary measures that could curb further occurrence.

The Nigeria Pillar of Sports sounded that there is need for admonition and security measures because in some instances, sportsmen and women are targets of the bandits.

Chief Ejidike noted that Nigeria roads are in bad conditions which makes it prone to accident even as motorists on the road are sometimes careless.

He mentioned recent accidents which claimed the life of Rangers International striker , Ifeanyi George who was involved in road accident when his vehicle ran into a parked vehicle along Onitsha – Agbor -Benin road as well as the fire incident that consumed Lobi Stars coaster bus on their way to Makurdi.

In the Same vein, Ejidike lamented the kidnap of Enyimba FC inspiring midfielder , Dayo Ojo who was abducted in Ipele town after Ifon in Ondo state. It will also be recalled that a promising player of Remo FC, Tiamiyu Kazeem was killed as well as Kano pillars Team manager, Kabiru Baleria who died ; all of these calamities in a spate of three month.

” These calamities are disheartening as I call on sports administrators in Nigeria to take drastic steps to ensure security and protection of sportsmen and women. Possibly, let pray for divine protection and guidance of God”, Ejidike advocated.

In a similar development, the ravaging pandemic, Covid-19 which has shaken the entire world to its foundation must be nip in the bud in Nigeria according to the Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Chief Ejidike.

Nigeria Pillar of Sports tasked the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari to engage all institutions for more advocacy and understanding of the need to improve our hygiene and adopt the social ethnics in this circumstances.

” In Nigeria, we seem to hold on unto religion and believe our religious leaders; hence, the president should meaningfully engage the leaders of both Christianity and Islam in the spreading the precautionary measures . The CAN President and President of Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs in Nigeria are very important in this regard “.

With the words from the religious leaders, followers will understand more and adhere to the need to abide by the social rules.

Coronavirus in the words of Ejidike must be tackled with all sense of responsibility.
