The Vice-Chancellor of Nigeria Maritime University (NMU) has been formally honoured with a Presentation of Honour by the Director of Sports, in recognition of the institution’s outstanding commitment to university sports development at the 27th Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) Games, held at the University of Jos (UNIJOS) in 2025.
The presentation highlights NMU’s growing investment in sports as a vital tool for student development, discipline, and national representation.
It also reflects the university’s steady rise as a competitive force within the Nigerian university sports ecosystem, despite being one of the younger institutions in the country.
A proud moment followed the presentation as the Vice-Chancellor posed for a group photograph with the university’s cadet athletes, symbolising strong institutional leadership and support for the next generation of disciplined and high-performing students.
The interaction underscored the administration’s belief in sports as a platform for grooming well-rounded graduates equipped with leadership qualities and resilience.
Special recognition was also given to the five NMU medalists who distinguished themselves at the Games, proudly representing the university on the national stage.
Their medals stand as a reward for months of hard work, determination, and unwavering commitment, bringing honour to the institution and inspiring fellow students.
The occasion captured the essence of leadership, teamwork, and excellence, reinforcing Nigeria Maritime University’s vision of nurturing talents that excel both academically and athletically, while laying a strong foundation for the future of university sports in Nigeria.
