Nigeria Kick Boxing Buff Happy With National Championship

A member of the technical committee of Nigeria Kick Boxing Federation, Ambassador Henry George has expressed satisfaction with the National Kickboxing Championship in Port Harcourt.

Although he admitted that the technical depth of Nigerian kick boxers and the standard of the officials still needs to be improved upon, George said the championship in The Garden City was a huge success.

Sports247.ng can report that Ambassador George was all smiles after the competition, as he believes it was a good stepping stone to the upcoming 19th National Sports Festival in Abuja.

While also showering accolades on the sponsor, George disclosed further that the championship had in attendance top competitors from all across the country.

He, however, stressed that the fighters must learn more techniques of the sports and advised the officials to attend refresher courses in order to get abreast with updated rules.

George added: “We want to say thank you to the sponsor, Chief Mako Pougatorio for providing the opportunity for our athletes to express themselves In combat as part of preparation for the Sports Festival.

“The competitors were very impressive I must confess. But, basically, fighting system around the globe has evolved.

“Nigeria’s fighters need to be more technical and aggressive because they will not only fight African opponents but European challengers at International championships.

“Regular participation in officiating courses will definitely keep officials on top of their game. All the same, their performances so far are really commendable.”
