Nigeria’s senior men’s handball team, the Golden Arrows, are set to begin their campaign at the 2025 African Men’s Handball Nations Championship with a high-stakes clash against Algeria on Wednesday, January 21, 2025, in Kigali, Rwanda.

The Nigerian delegation departed Lagos early Tuesday via Murtala Muhammed International Airport, touching down in Kigali later that afternoon to finalize preparations for the continental tournament, which runs from January 21 to 31, 2025.
Leading the team is President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), Mr. Jibril Saidu Ojih, accompanied by other federation officials, reflecting the importance the country places on strong performance in the championship.
Under the guidance of head coach Rafiu Salami, the Golden Arrows are expected to put in intensive training sessions in Kigali ahead of their 1:00 p.m. opening match against Algeria.
The team will be looking to make a strong impression in the tournament, aiming to showcase Nigeria’s growing prowess in handball and secure a positive start in the continental competition.
The opening match against Algeria will set the tone for Nigeria’s campaign as they compete against Africa’s top handball nations for the 2025 title.
