Nigeria Cricket Federation Goes To Nasarawa State Schools

Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has taken its mobilization programme tom schools in Nasarawa State, with the training of 200 primary and secondary students in 10 select institutions.

 

 

Sports247.ng learnt that the participating schools include Yumaco international Academy, Lafia; Mallam Isa Memorial Academy, Set Nursery and Primary School, Bukansidi, Lafia and Maikefi Memorial Academy, Lafia.

Others are Al-Amin Nursery/Primary School, Lafia; Lafia East Primary School, Lafia; Dunama Primary School, Lafia; St. James Primary School, Lafia; Unguwa Jenlele Primary School and Tudun Kawari Primary School, Lafia.

Regional Development Officer for NCF, North Central, Peter Yakubu, said the project was staged in collaboration with Price House Water on Friday.

Yakubu said they introduced cricket games in choice Nasarawa State schools among other states in the zone because the state had been left behind since the introduction of the game.

He added that the selection of young cricketers would cut across the 13 local government areas and 18 development areas of the state, adding that the expected cricketers would be trained on different techniques and skills to ensure that they acquaint themselves with the game.

Yakubu further said: “Our aim of coming to Nasarawa state is to introduce cricket in the state and to ensure that they participate at the forthcoming youth games.”
