Nigeria Acquatics Federation Partners Nigerian Navy

Nigeria Acquatics Federation in collaboration with Nigerian Navy presents: 8th Chief of the Naval staff(CNS) National championship: Date Thursday 10th October to Saturday 12th October 2019. At the National stadium swimming pool- Surulere Lagos.

The National swimming championship is Aim at sensitizing and creating much desired interest in swimming as water sport.
Without doubt, it will achieve the Nigerian Navy aspiration of winning medals at the 2020 Olympics games and the federation’s efforts in developing talents from the grass roots.

The past championship has produced several talented swimmers who have gone to make the nation proud: Notable L.T. Labake Oriretan , a Nigerian Navy personnel, who has gone ahead to win laurels for the Nigerian Navy and the country at several competitions.

19 participants from the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Nigerian police Force, . Nigeria Security and civil defence Corp, Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife, Edo state, ogun, ondo, Rivers, Kano, cross-river state, kaduna, Osun, Gombe will compet in 200m Back stroke in women and men, 100 m Butterfly in Women and men, 50 m Breast stroke in women and men, 50m free style women and men and 4×50 mixed medly Relay women and men.

The first edition of the championship was held in Benin- Edo state in 2000 with only 13 participating teams. Lagos also held the 7th edition that had 22 participating teams.

Present at the opening ceremony of the championship is Rear-Admiral O.B Daji. Flag officer commanding Western Naval command(F.O.C West). Who Re-presented the Chief of the Naval staff, Vice Admiral I.E Ibas and Mr. Babatunde Fatayi- Williams. President, Nigeria Acquatics Federation.

The Championship ends on Saturday 12th October 2019.
