The Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) has announced the appointment of former international and Commonwealth Games silver medalist, Adura Olaleyin, as its new Technical Director, signaling a renewed drive toward repositioning Nigerian boxing for global competitiveness.

He also guided the national team to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where his technical acumen earned wide acclaim.

Between 2021 and 2025, Olaleyin served as the Southwest representative on the NBF board, contributing to key developmental programs aimed at reviving grassroots boxing across the country.

Announcing the appointment, NBF President Hon. Wale Edun—who also serves as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance—described Olaleyin as “a seasoned professional whose leadership and technical expertise will play a pivotal role in our reform agenda.”

Edun reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to implementing strategic policies for the advancement of Olympic-style boxing, urging stakeholders to rally behind the new board in realizing its development blueprint.

Olaleyin, who will operate under the guidance of the NBF Technical Committee, is expected to drive talent discovery, coaching education, and international competitiveness as key pillars of his tenure.

With this appointment, the NBF appears poised to usher in a new era of structured technical direction—one that many insiders believe could restore Nigeria’s long-lost glory in the squared ropes sport.
