National Principals Cup: Oyo State Is Set For The Qualifying Series

All is set for the kick-off of the recently revived National Principal’s Cup for the state qualifying series in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital

The University of Ibadan playing ground will play host to the two days qualifying series that will culminate into the zonal preliminaries as the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare was in the state during the weekend on an inspection tour of Obafemi Awolowo Stadium (Liberty stadium).

According to the Director of Grassroots Sports in the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development who doubles as Chairman of the organizing committee, Dr. Ademola Are, he said.

“The revival of the Principal’s Cup is one of the cardinal programs of the Minister of Youth and Sports Development Mr. Sunday Dare aimed at reviving Schools Sports development and grooming of young talents in the country.

Apart from football, Table Tennis, Badminton and Athletics will be competed for among all the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja”

Oyo State will know its representatives in athletics, Table Tennis, Badminton, and football this Wednesday and Thursday, 10th and 11th March respectfully in preparation for the Zonal Finals billed to hold on 18th- 22nd March.

The finals take place from 1st- 5th April 2021.
