Nasarawa United Reaffirms Support From State Government

The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, has reiterated the State Government’s sustained support for the State’s Men’s Premier League Football Club, Nasarawa United, as the the team participate in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League campaign.

In a meeting held at the Commissioner’s office on Wednesday in Lafia, Kwanta emphasized that the welfare of the athletes and other team members would remain a top priority of the State Government.

“I decided to convene this emergency meeting to re-echo Government’s commitment to providing the necessary support and resources to ensure the team’s success.

“We strongly believe in the potential of our players and coaches, just as we are so confident about the capacity of the Management and Backroom Staff of the Solid Miners.

“We have started the season very well, and I want to urge us to continue in that direction.

“As a Government, rest assured that Governor Abdullahi Sule will continue to work tirelessly to create an enabling environment for the team to succeed by prioritising your welfare, upgrade your facilities, and provide those things that you need to make the job easier for you”, he stated.

The Commissioner also highlighted the State Government’s plans to implement programmes and initiatives aimed at promoting the development of the Club, particularly setting up of a Committee to fast track the documentation of every staff member of the Club with the Ministry, talent identification and development through the Club’s Youth System and grassroots talent hunt, and infrastructure development.

Nasarawa United’s Chairman, Solomon Babanjah, Technical Adviser, Mangut Mbwas, and Captain, King Osanga, expressed their gratitude to the State Government for its continued support and pledged to work towards achieving success in the current NPFL campaign and other competitions.

5th on the table with seven points in the ongoing 2025/26 NPFL Season, Nasarawa United are billed to travel to Yenagoa this weekend to face Bayelsa United on match-day five, with the hope of using the renewed sense of purpose from Wednesdays meeting with the Commissioner to sustain their impressive start to the league campaign.
