Mubaraq AbdulHammeed’s Late Winner Lifts Gateway United Over First Bank FC in Thrilling NNL Clash

Mubaraq AbdulHammeed was the match-winner as Gateway United edged First Bank FC 3-2 in a thrilling Nigeria National League (NNL) 2024/2025 Matchday 17 encounter at the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode.

The hosts broke the deadlock in the 26th minute through a stunning free-kick from Emmanuel Wilson, who curled the ball beautifully into the bottom-right corner.

Gateway continued to press, and nearly doubled their lead in the 40th minute when Aleloju Seyi’s dangerous cross almost resulted in an own goal.

Just four minutes into the second half, Gateway United found their second. Rasaq AbdulHammeed combined neatly with Olanese Saburi, who tucked the ball in from a difficult angle to make it 2-0.

However, First Bank FC responded strongly. In the 63rd minute, Emmanuel Wilson unfortunately scored an own goal while trying to clear his lines. Moments later, in the 68th minute, Wasiu Ganiyu completed the comeback with a composed finish after latching onto a precise pass.

But Gateway United would have the last word. In the 89th minute, Mubaraq AbdulHammeed rose highest to nod home the decisive goal, sealing a dramatic win for the home side.
