Popular Port Harcourt comedian Lyfewealth Charles Wobo, widely known as Mr Lyfe or Orlu Papa, has thrown his weight behind the Super Eagles ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar, insisting Nigeria have enough quality to deliver despite Victor Osimhen’s absence.
Mr Lyfe spoke during a chance encounter with Sports247 in Lagos while waiting for his flight back to Port Harcourt, expressing strong belief in Éric Chelle’s team ahead of Friday’s encounter in Uyo.
The Rivers State-born comedian, actor and content creator said he remains a passionate supporter of the national team and expects the players to respond positively after the disappointment of missing the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Osimhen’s absence is particularly significant for Mr Lyfe, who disclosed during the conversation that the Galatasaray striker is his personal friend.
While wishing Osimhen a speedy recovery, the comedian maintained that losing Nigeria’s leading striker should not completely disrupt the Super Eagles because Chelle still has several quality attacking options available.
Osimhen was ruled out of the qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau after failing to recover sufficiently from injury, with Taiwo Awoniyi subsequently called up as his replacement.
Mr Lyfe believes the responsibility now falls on the available players to demonstrate Nigeria’s attacking depth and begin the AFCON qualification campaign strongly.
Away from entertainment, the comedian is no stranger to football himself. Mr Lyfe was named best player at the inaugural Sabi Cup in Port Harcourt, an entertainers’ football competition organised by Sabinus, earning a ₦500,000 individual prize for his performance.
Online profiles identify him as Lyfewealth Charles Wobo, a University of Port Harcourt graduate from Rivers State who has built his entertainment career as a comedian, actor and digital content creator and regularly features alongside Sabinus.
For Mr Lyfe, however, attention this week is on the Super Eagles: his friend Osimhen may be missing, but his confidence in Nigeria is not.
