The House of Representatives Committee on Sports has rallied behind Nigeria’s Super Falcons, urging them to stay focused and build on their impressive start at the 2025 African Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON) as they chase a historic 10th continental title — a campaign now dubbed “Mission X.”
Following Nigeria’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Tunisia in their Group B opener on Sunday, the Committee, led by Honourable Kabiru Amadu, issued a statement commending the Falcons’ commanding display and expressing confidence in their ability to reclaim African supremacy.

“The win against Tunisia is not just a victory—it’s a powerful statement of intent,” said Amadu. “This should be the fuel that drives the team forward as they pursue what could be a record-extending 10th WAFCON title. On behalf of the House Committee on Sports, I salute the players and coaching staff.”
Goals from Asisat Oshoala, Rinsola Babajide, and Chiwendu Ihezuo sealed Nigeria’s dominance and positioned them atop the group, pending results from the Algeria vs Botswana fixture.
Honourable Amadu assured the team of full institutional backing, noting that the Federal Government, National Assembly, National Sports Commission, and the Nigeria Football Federation were united in support.
“You carry the hopes of over 200 million Nigerians, and we believe in your strength and experience to bring the trophy home. You remain the best team in Africa, and this mission—Mission X—is within reach,” he affirmed.
The Super Falcons continue their Group B campaign on Thursday against Botswana and will wrap up the group phase on Sunday against Algeria. Both matches are scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
As anticipation builds, the House Committee’s rallying call serves as a timely morale boost, with Nigerians hoping to see the Super Falcons soar all the way to WAFCON glory once again.
