Speaking at the Web Summit in Qatar, Obi humorously referred to himself as Osimhen’s agent, stating that he is actively working towards facilitating Osimhen’s move to Chelsea.

“There’s genuine interest between both,” Obi said, referring to Osimhen and Chelsea. He believes that Osimhen has a strong affinity for the club and is keen on following in the footsteps of Nigerian players who have previously played for Chelsea, including himself and Victor Moses. Obi also highlighted the allure of London as a city, suggesting it as a preferable choice for Osimhen over other locations like Liverpool.

However, Obi acknowledged that Osimhen has attracted interest from other top clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United. Despite this, Obi remains hopeful and is actively encouraging Osimhen to consider Chelsea as his top choice. “I am still pushing, sending messages to him trying to make sure he doesn’t expect too much and just to narrow his mind to one club, and that is the Blues,” Obi said.

Mikel Obi also emphasized the potential impact Osimhen could have on Chelsea’s performance. He pointed out that Chelsea’s current challenge is their lack of goal-scoring prowess, a gap that Osimhen could fill. “We need that striker who will score goals, and that’s what Victor will give you,” Obi stated. He further praised Osimhen’s goal-scoring ability, comparing it to that of Erling Haaland, one of the best strikers in the world.

Mikel Obi expressed his belief that Osimhen’s potential contribution to Chelsea could extend beyond just scoring goals. He suggested that Osimhen’s presence on the field could enhance the team’s overall performance, allowing them to retain the ball more effectively and enabling midfielders to join the attack.

Mikel Obi expressed his hope that Osimhen would eventually join Chelsea and carve out a successful career at the club. “Let’s hope he works out and you know he comes to Chelsea and becomes a legend,” Obi said.

This endorsement from a former Chelsea player and Nigerian International like Mikel Obi could potentially influence Osimhen’s decision regarding his future club. As the transfer season approaches, fans and pundits alike will be keenly watching to see where this promising Nigerian striker will end up.
