Mikel: I Missed England While Playing In China

Middlesbrough of England midfielder, John Mikel Obi has confessed that one big reason behind his decision to terminate his contract with Tianjin Teda of China was because he missed his family in England.

 

After lining out for his third match since joining Middlesbrough as a free agent in the January transfer, sports247.ng can report that Mikel is happy once again, and says he is happy to be back ‘home.’

 

Such it is that Mikel is now based just two hours from London, where his girlfriend, Olga and their two young children, Mia and Ava, live, and he is relishing every moment of being back where he loves to be most.

 

Although Mikel stressed that he has has no regrets over his time in China, the Super Eagles captain stressed that he is facing up to his new challenge in the English Championship with a settled mind.

 

Mikel, who has also played for Plateau United of Jos, Lyn Oslo of Norway and Chelsea of England said: “I look at my time in China as an experience.

 

“It wasn’t bad. Everyone was so nice but sometimes you miss home and that’s what I did. I missed home and wanted to come back.”
