Flying Sports Academy of FESTAC Town, Lagos, the highly successful and formidable team owned by former midfield dazzler, Marshal Mbre, will at 8am this Saturday open the long-awaited Coach Osahon Emokpae Memorial Football Carnival in a clash with Young Stars FC of Satellite Town.
Sports247 gathered that Mbre’s team, which produced former youth international, Harmony Ikande and Super Eagles’ 2013 FIFA Confederation Cup sensation, Nnamdi Oduamadi will set the competition in motion at 8am against late Coach Osahon’s club, which produced Turkey-based striker, Paul Onuachu.
The match between both resourceful outfits will launch what the once-postponed competition’s organiser, Pastor Oscar Ezinwa Emmanuel said will be a single day of excellent youth football and exposure of many budding talents at FHA Stadium, FESTAC Town.
While acknowledging structural support from various stakeholders and the leader of Iba Coaches Council for making the competition possible this Saturday, the man fondly called ‘TM Oscar’ enthused that it will be a befitting event in memory of a dedicated youth developer.
“I am happy that we can finally confirm that this one-day memorial carnival in honour of out late dear Coach Osahon Emokpae will now come up on Saturday at FHA Sports Complex in FESTAC.
We postponed it from its initial date in August, but it is still very timely because it is coming up two days after his posthumous birthday. God will help us make him proud and eternally bless his soul,” the organiser prayed.
Sports247 gathered further that the initial plan to line out 12 clubs at the event had to be jettisoned due to constraints of time and funds, but TM Oscar assured that all eight teams now confirmed to pkay knockout games on Saturday are up to the task.
