Maktown Flyers Get Wake Up Call From Igoche Mark Ahead Of Wednesday’s BAL 2026 Clash With Al-Ahly

Nigeria’s representatives in the 2026 Basketball Africa League (BAL), Maktown Flyers of Makurdi have received a wake-up call for them to storm back better, following their 72-97 loss to FUS Rabat of Morocco.

Sports247 reports that the charge for a revival came from esteemed basketball promoter, Igoche Mark, who pointed out that, despite Sunday’s loss at Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, Morocco, The Flyers did well in winning their previous game.

The Nigerian champions now have a win and one defeat at the Savannah Conference clubs’s championship and Mark stressed that The Flyers must redouble their efforts ahead of their remaining three fixtures at the same venue.

“You have done well, but the journey has just begun. I charge you to continue in the fear of victory … the fear that keeps you humble, keeps you working hard and keeps you hungry.

“The fear of victory is what separates one-time winners from dynasties. That’s why you must respect every opponent and fear letting yourself down.

“You made us proud on the opening night. So, stay focused, stay together and keep flying. The whole nation is behind you,” Mark assured the history chasing Flyers.

Sports247 gathered that Maktown Flyers will next play against Al-Ahly of Egypt this Wednesday, after which they tango Club Afrucain of Tunisia on Friday, then face Ville de Dakar of Senegal on Sunday.

The squad coached by Mohammed Abderahman are eager to become Nigeria’s most successful representative in BAL history, following their upset victory over the country’s perennial flag bearers, Rivers Hoopers of Port Harcourt in the national finals.
