Makinde Rewards Shooting Stars with $5,000 After Dramatic Win Over Plateau United

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has commended the resilience and fighting spirit of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) following their hard-fought 1–0 victory over Plateau United in a thrilling Matchday 7 encounter of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Governor Makinde, who watched the game live at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, on Sunday night, rewarded the team with $5,000 for their outstanding performance and perseverance from start to finish.

He was joined at the stadium by former Deputy Governor Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin, and other top government officials.

The governor also expressed gratitude to the passionate 3SC fans for their unwavering support, urging them to continue backing the team throughout the season.

The decisive moment came deep into stoppage time when Ayodele Ismail rose highest to head home a pinpoint cross from Kabiru Tijani, sending the home crowd into wild celebration.

Coach Nurudeen Aweroro’s tactical substitutions in the 72nd minute — introducing Ismail and Adams — proved pivotal as both players injected fresh energy into the attack. Despite Plateau United’s disciplined defending, the Oluyole Warriors maintained relentless pressure until the breakthrough goal sealed all three points.

The win marks 3SC’s third consecutive victory, further solidifying their momentum in the NPFL.

Speaking after the match, Coach Aweroro praised his players’ discipline and determination, emphasizing the importance of maintaining consistency.

“This victory is a reflection of hard work and unity,” Aweroro said. “We’ll keep improving our tactics and build on this momentum as the season progresses.”

With confidence high and morale boosted by both their governor’s presence and the dramatic win, Shooting Stars now turn their focus to their next fixture — determined to sustain their fine form and climb higher on the league table.
