Maikaba Raises Concern Over Abridged Nigeria PFL Season

Plateau United of Jos new coach, Abdul Maikaba has expressed worries over the type of competition all clubs will face next season in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), considering that it will be an abridged format.

Baring his mind in a down-to-earth interview with sports247.ng, the former Akwa United of Uyo handler said it will be tough for all teams as the show may be over before they realise it.

Maikaba also predicted that the incoming season will be a difficult terrain because of the short time frame.

He went on to warn that any team that makes a mistake will struggle to recover, because the contesting period will be short.

Maikaba stressed: “The season will be tough, because of the abridged format that will be followed.

“However, since we know what is coming, we should be prepared for it. That is why I will use this time to build my team properly.

“We will instill in them the idea that the players must be on their toes, so that we can start well.”
