Maikaba: I Joined Plateau United For My Family

New head coach of Plateau United of Jos, Abdula Maikaba has revealed that another strong reason behind his move to The Tin City side is because he wants to be close to his family.

Maikaba said he would have love to continue with Akwa United of Uyo, as he enjoyed his stay in the Akwa Ibom State capital and was very successful there, but says he wants to be closer to his family in Kano.

Thought Jos to Kano is about four hours drive by road, Maikaba says it is a shorter distance from what he experienced in Uyo, and noted further that he could easily get connecting flight between the Tin City and City of Groundnut Pyramids.

Maikaba expatiated: “Really I was supposed to continue with Akwa United because we have built a good team and the best way to keep this on was for me to renew my contract.

“Unfortunately back home, I have something that has been distracting my attention from the job, it relates to my family.

“My family is based in Kano, so I want to come closer to my family, so I can solve problems.

“It’s easier for us to see ourselves more, especially my children that are young and coming up, I don’t have to leave the burden of their development on my wife alone.”
