Ademola Lookman delivered another standout performance for Nigeria, earning his second Man of the Match award after inspiring the Super Eagles to a 4–0 victory over Mozambique in the AFCON Round of 16.
The winger opened the scoring and provided two assists, playing a decisive role as Nigeria cruised into the quarter-finals with authority.

Asked whether he has his eyes on the tournament’s Top Scorer award, Lookman was quick to shift the focus back to collective success.
“No, it’s about the team winning. Today we scored four goals, and that’s what matters to me — supporting the team to win,” he said.
The Atalanta forward also reacted to the Moroccan fans who were loudly chanting his name during the match.
“It’s not easy for a team to win four matches. Today we shared the assists and scored four goals — that’s not easy. That’s why the support comes, and we keep pushing,” Lookman explained.
On the brief on-field exchange with Victor Osimhen, Lookman played down any suggestion of tension.
“Osimhen is a big striker, one of the best in the world. What matters now is what’s ahead — the quarter-finals. That’s our focus,” he added.
Reflecting on his journey and message to young players watching across Africa, Lookman emphasized perseverance and dedication.
“I try to improve on and off the pitch. The most important thing is not giving up. I made a choice to play football and to dedicate myself fully to the game, and I’ll keep pushing,” he concluded.
Nigeria’s convincing win not only confirmed their growing momentum at AFCON 2025, but also highlighted Lookman’s maturity, leadership, and team-first mentality as the Super Eagles march on in the tournament.
