Lookman: I Need Hard Work, Support, Confidence, Time

Everton of England winger, Ademola Lookman has reeled out the factors that will help him excel with The Toffees and overall in his chosen career, as he says he needs hard work, support, confidence and time.

The 21-year-old Nigerian-born youngster, who started his career with Charlton Athletic and joined Everton in January 2017, says he is happy to finally settled down at Goodison Park, but is determined to do more.

Sports247.ng learnt that Lookman, who was part of England’s squad that won the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, is now seeking support from his club’s fans, officials and players to complement his personal efforts and growing level of confidence, all of which he says are factors for progress.

This season, Lookman has enjoyed more playing time at Everton, but he insists he still has a lot more to offer and to improve with each passing game, as he hopes to reach the peak of his career.

After making only 15 English Premier League appearances for Everton in two seasons, Lookman got a lift while on loan with RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga, where he played regularly and dazzled frequently.

Lookman initially wanted a permanent deal at Leipzig, which Everton refused, and he left that was the beginning of sordid days for him at the GoodIson Park-based Merseyside club.

However, since the arrival of Marco Silva as Everton manager, Lookman has enjoyed more game time, featuring in 15 matches in all competitions this term, butn he wants to continue improving and reach the top.

Lookman confessed: “My ambition is to play at the top. To be at the very top in football. Those ambitions feel attainable.

“It takes a lot of hard work. But, with the confidence of the fans, of the manager and my teammates, I can evolve as a player even more.

“With time and training and games, you will always improve. And I feel I am getting stronger every single week.”
