UMS de Loum qualified for the CAF Champions League after they finished second in the Cameroonian Elite One league while Cottonsport topped the league in the Francophone country.

The Nigerian League CAF Champions League representatives have recruited players for the new season including forward Sikiru Alimi from Sunshine Stars, but importantly Duru insists the team must play with a positive mindset and realize they not only represent the club, but also Nigeria.

The Makurdi based club was declared champions of the NPFL 2017/2018 league season after it was impossible for the league to meet up with the CAF deadline for the registration of clubs to play on the continent.
