Libya vs Nigeria: 5 Eagles to look out for in Sfax

The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between Nigeria and Libya will take place at the Stade Taïeb Mhiri in the city of Sfax on Tuesday and we have picked our top 5 Eagles to watch.

5. William Troost Ekong

The Udinese centre back will be at the heart of the Nigeria’s defence alongside Leon Balogun.

He is having an excellent season with Udinese in the Serie A.

A great leader in defence, Ekong will keep his defensive partners in shape, something that will be needed when they come up against the rampaging Libyan attackers.

A tough tackler, and great in the air, Ekong has it all.

4. Wilfred Ndidi

Ndidi can either operate in front of the back four, or as a play-maker, something that will be useful to coach Gernot Rohr with such a talented field of central midfielders in his squad to choose from.

Tough in the tackle, but also with great vision, Ndidi has all the qualities of a top international midfielder.

A born leader, with a never say die attitude, Ndidi’s qualities will be crucial.

3. Odion Ighalo

Ighalo has immense talent in front of goal, with great ability, and a cool finish, the attributes of a typical ‘number 9’ in the mold of Rashidi Yekini. The Changchun Yatai star also has great pace, and his runs will be crucial in creating space for the on-rushing midfielders.

He netted three goals in the 4-0 thumping of the Mediterranean Knights on Saturday. He will be determined to prove himself once again, and don’t bet against scoring again on Tuesday.

2. Samuel Kalu

If he can link up well with his teammates, Libyan defenders will not know what has hit them.

The Bordeaux talent should weave the magic in the away fixture.

1. Alex Iwobi

Alex Iwobi has been labeled ‘The new Jay Jay Okocha’ after a terrific performance in the 4-0 rout of Libya on Saturday.

An elegant player, Iwobi is happiest with the ball at his feet, with an ability to glide past opponents at ease, before playing a defence splitting pace to a striker.

When the game gets underway on Tuesday, sit back and enjoy watching these five terrific talents in action, you will not be disappointed!
