Lagos, Ogun YSFON U-14 To Clash In MKO Abiola Memorial Match

As part of activities lined up for the Inauguration Lagos State Chapter of Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) and investiture of Hon. Tajudeen Ajide, the Executive Chairman of Surulere local government as the grand patron of the YSFON in the South West Zone of Nigeria, Lagos, and Ogun State Under-14 teams will be confronted in MKO Abiola Memorial Tourney.

The event slated for the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium on the 21st of November according to the ex-international Taju Disu that has been staging the memorial football event annually in memory of the Late Pillar of Sports, Chief MKO Abiola will be part of the double Inauguration ceremony.

The loaded event will entail the Inauguration of Lagos State YSFON Chapter with Taju Disu as Chairman, the investiture of Hon Tajudeen Ajide as grand patron of the body in the South/West and formal inauguration of the new executive board for the new player’s union, Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) under the leadership of its President, Tijani Babangida.

“This Saturday’s three-in-one event is a loaded one because, after the YSFON Lagos chapter and player’s union inauguration, I have decided to stage this year’s MKO Abiola Memorial Soccer that usually being played by All-Stars Teams but now converted to a grassroots competition with Ogun U-14 playing against Lagos in the evening.

“There is no way I can forget easily Chief MKO Abiola, considering what he did in my life and the development he brought to African football during his lifetimes, and that is why I have been consistently organizing a memorial soccer tournament for in his honour annually which enters 13th edition this year” Taju Disu noted.

He added that the MKO Abiola Tournament which supposed to have been held since March this year but had to be shifted due to the CoronaVirus pandemic was converted to grassroots competition with a view to use it develop football within the South/West geo-political zone of the country, and will be organizing by YSFON.
